Safety around horses, how to handle a horse, learn colors markings and breeds, discuss the cost of owning your own horse or pony, basic horse care, a basic understanding of how horses think, brushing, hoof picking, putting on saddles and bridles, thorough beginning in classical horsemanship techniques; including learning walk, trot, canter, turning, and stopping, games on horseback.
Lessons are available for Beginners, Advanced Beginners, and Intermediate riders. They run once a week, for a 3 or 4 week lesson series. Students that need to cancel within 24 hours of their lesson will forfeit that lesson. Lessons may be given in the ring or on the trail.
Beginner lessons are both unmounted and mounted. This instills confidence and boosts self esteem as the child learns how to understand, control and relate to a very large animal. Further training continues as students learn correct classical position in the saddle - both in the riding ring and possibly on the trail - which is always a great adventure through the fields and forests of the farm. Students are encouraged to try different riding styles to see what piques their interest.
Horse Care:
Please plan on staying 15 - 20 minutes after your lesson to clean your horse and tack before leaving. Horse care is an important part of learning to ride.
