TIMBERLAND LENDS A HAND AT THE FARM

November 13, 2006:  The Timberland Company sent a crew of 16 employees to volunteer at the Farm on November 7 as part of their community service program.  The various chores included indoor painting of the barn and old fence removal.

Timberland is a strong proponent of making an impact in the community through service.  Their community service program offers employees time to complete 40 hours of paid volunteer service.

We have a great relationship with Timberland. This generous company has sent folks out to help more than once and we really appreciate it. Volunteers are the backbone of the Educational Farm.
BEDFORD MEN'S CLUB:  DEDICATED TO HELPING THE EDUCATIONAL FARM GROW

October 11 2006: The Bedford Men’s Club donated $1,000 to The Educational Farm towards the purchase of a portable handicap ramp for wheelchair bound children.  The ramp will enable the children to be put directly on a horse's back as part of our future therapeutic riding program.

Summer, 2007:  A group of Men's Club volunteers painted and installed the fencing around our new 100' x 100' Riding ring.  We can now use the ring for horsemanship lessons and pony rides at special events.

Spring, 2008:  Some Bedford Men's club members came to the farm for our Spring Clean-up day, and helped us demolish and remove an old out-building at the end of our Equine Wing

The Bedford Men’s Club is a true partner and has been a long time supporter of the Farm. They have always been willing to help us either monetarily or through manpower, and are a truly caring organization.  The Bedford Men’s Club is a non-profit organization designed to promote the betterment of the community.

July, 2007:  Pelletsales.com donated five full pallets of wood pellets to the Educational Farm.  This extraordinary gift will allow us to heat our Discovery Room for up to two winters, so we can continue to run programs and meetings year round, and gives our staff of dedicated volunteers a place to warm up on cold winter days.

JOHN SCHEETZ EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT

Fall, 2007:  Bedford Resident John Sheetz from Bedford's Troop 5 completed a large run-in shelter in our horse pasture.  The shelter was finished just in time for winter!

The shelter protects the horses and ponies from all kinds of weather: wind, snow, rain, hot sun, and even provides protection from some biting insects during the summer.
HALEY'S BIRTHDAY WISH FOR THE FARM

June 2008:  7 year old Haley Klingseisen of Bedford had a birthday party at the Educational Farm.  Instead of presents, this thoughtful and generous little girl asked for money to be used to purchase and donate something that we needed at the Farm.

Haley then brought us a battery operated weedwacker, a 150 ft garden hose, a couple of flat back buckets, some cat food, and some bleach. Thanks, Haley!
BEDFORD WOMEN'S CLUB CHARITABLE DONATION

Many thanks to all of you who helped us improve our Equine wing by sponsoring a horse stall.

Each $750 donation allowed us to purchase materials and build a 12 x 12 box stall with a rubber mat floor.
